Today Part 2

Wai-O-Tapu

Today Part 1

Ola! What a great day! The weather is extremely nice and I got to see some awesome sights. But before all that, I can barely contain my excitement at this:
Walk up and take away sushi! Grab some tongs, load your tray and go for an affordable price. Y'all just don't understand how expensive food is here! I didn't budget for all that. Finding a decent lunch for less than $30 made me very happy. Tons of people came through. We need this concept in the US.
I paid twice the US price for a Starbucks coffee as well, because this is no time for a withdrawal headache. I also begged the poor girl for cream, because down unda coffee is served black and cream and milk are for tea. She relented.

Also important to note, when in NZ, driving and walking are opposite of what we are used to. When crossing the street, rather than looking left, right, and left again, please look to the right first so as to avoid a wipeout.

Tonight, Hangi feast!

S'long South Island

Of course, the day I leave, the sun comes out. Still, summer in Queenstown is like summer in San Francisco. Freezing! Time to head up north!

So, on March4/March5, I take my 4th and 5th flights to Rotorua on the North Island. After nearly missing my connection - 30 minutes apart! got in late, different terminals- I squeeze myself and luggage onto a tiny turboprop with no room for luggage- let's just say I caused a "to do." The captain was uber nice and helped me out. Back to Rotorua, it's warmer and It reminds me of East Palo Alto near the airport and Palo Alto further out. I can't wait to explore tomorrow.

The views out of Queenstown were breathtaking.
